A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER…

Lauren Cunningham

Director & Founder

Along with so many of you, I suffered for years with a bad dose of PMS, digestive issues, thyroid problems and irregular menstrual cycles. Growing up, I was told this was all ‘normal’ and something I had to ‘deal’ with forever.

I remember feeling so helpless leaving a particular doctors appointment, after being told I had polycystic ovaries but advised to forget about it until I wanted to have children. I was also dismissed for years with my gut issues until I found an amazing practitioner who investigated my symptoms and recommended further testing. Thanks to her, I would have gone years without being diagnoses with Crohn’s disease and who knows the affect it would have had on my body.

After my diagnoses, I was relived to know I wasn’t going crazy but also couldn’t help feeling upset, angry, frustrated and scared. I was frustrated that it took so long for a diagnosis to be made, but scared that I had to live with the burden of these symptoms forever.

Whilst conducting the rest of my studies on women’s health, nutrition and hormones, I realised I no longer needed to suffer with debilitating menstrual and gut health issues each day. There was a possibility I could live with endless energy, full health and symptom-free periods. This possibility was enough to drive me towards conquering my hormonal health and gut health for good.

After balancing my hormones and healing my gut, I no longer put up with symptomatic periods, bloating or fatigue. I managed to put my IBD into remission which felt impossible to do in the past. I refused to accept suffering as my normal, and you don’t have to either.

After dedicating years into the establishment of Acore Health, I've endeavored to provide women across Australia with a space where they feel supported and truly listened to. The services I've meticulously designed cater to the diverse needs of young women, rooted in the transformative principles of nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle adjustments.

After several years of working in the industry, I am in awe of the continuous rise in health issues that women face despite being significant advances in medicine. The increasing diagnosis of hormonal health conditions like PCOS and endometriosis is frightening and the support for those who endure these conditions is minimal.

We all know what we should be doing to improve our health, but we were never told the importance of our menstrual health in sustaining optimal health and well-being.

I have made it my mission to do so.

With love,
